Bad Timing...

Since Cohen has started school, he has been in great health.  I was sure he was going to get the typical beginning of school sickness, but he didn't and my other boys have been healthy too.  In fact, I think we have had the longest healthy streak ever in our family.  Enter yesterday.  Cohen woke up yesterday and said he did not feel good, but after breakfast, he said he was feeling better and off to school he went. Then when I picked him up his teacher said he had been complaining all morning about not feeling good but was sent to the nurse and did not have a fever.  So I brought him home, wrapped him up in a warm blanket, stuck him on the couch and he rested.  After about 30 min he said he was fine.  So we made TONS of candy together and had a great time.  Then he was cold again, so I warmed up a blanket in the dryer for him and next thing I know....

He went to go get the blanket, crawled into the dryer, and fell asleep.  FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS!!!  I know.. bad that I left him, but I figure, it if he was tired... why not leave him alone.  So now... enter last night.  He comes in our room with horrid croup and can hardly breath.  We through him in the hot shower at 1:30 a.m., got him to calm down, and put him back to bed.  This same thing happened again at 5 a.m. So, now he is missing his Christmas party and music program (that Justin took work off for) to instead go to the dr.  What crappy timing!  We were suppose to go out with a bunch of friend too tonight to go and karaoke.  What bad timing!!!  I hope my little guy get's better soon!

Thanksgiving and Christmas

I have been SO bad at taking pictures of my kids lately.  It's been a bunch of crappy cell phone pics as of late, and they are hardly showable.  But here I go anyway!

For Thanksgiving, my parents came to Dallas!!!  I LOVE my parents, as all people love their parents, but I really do LOVE them so much!  I can not go a day with out checking in with my Mom and my Dad is just one bowl full of knowledge about every little thing.  So, needless to say, I was SO happy to see the both of them.  Also, our good friends from Toledo, the Tollers, joined us for the feast as well!

One of the days my parents were here, they came to my house for the day and we decided to entertain them by a trip to the Bass Pro Shop to go see Santa.  The kids LOVED seeing Santa, and I love that they have tons of things for the kids to play with while the parents wait for forever in line to see Santa.  Also, they give out free pics with Santa, a total bonus for me since I am such a cheepo and would never pay for something like that! I was secretly hoping that I would get a good crying pic from Carter, but I think with the enthusiasm of his brothers (and the endless dum-dum's from Grandma), he decided it was ok.

After turkey nap for Grandma and Grandpa.

My dad at the Bass Pro shop.

Cohen is a perfect example of how exhausted we all were the week of Thanksgiving with running to my sisters all the time with my parents staying there, worth every mile though :).

As for Christmas, we have been very busy.  I have been busy with pictures and I some how got put in charge of the entire ward party!  We also had a great service activity and made the necklaces below for a woman's shelter.  My van was completely full with donations for the shelter and I was overwhelmed with the service of the ward.  Both activities were quite the job that kept me busy for weeks.
Our elf on the shelf.. Riddles

Cohen played a shepherd in the kids nativity.  He was super cute in it!

Defrosting the turkeys for the ward party.  Rubba-dub-dub, 3 turkeys in a tub!

The boys made a count down chain to Grandma and Grandpa coming.

And now, I am just counting down to Christmas.  I decided to forgo Christmas cards this year (sorry, only a few select will be getting them this year!).  The boys are SO excited and the best part is we get to have my in laws here for a whole week after Christmas when Justin has a whole week off!!!!  We can't wait!

And some added gems.... Jaces face when he does not get his way.

And our morning ritual when our heater broke.  My very sweet neighbor let us use her space heaters and my boys LOVED them.

Why We Love the Dum-Dum

I tried to cut out the first part of the video but was not successful, just wait till about the middle.  I love this face he does.  And he does it just about every time we pop out a dum-dum.

Here I go....

I have now FINALLY started my Photography business... like a real one.  There is a huge emphasis on STARTING so don't expect too much.  But in the last month, I have finally started a facebook page and now I have started a blog for it.  I have been doing a ton of pictures lately, so I hope to post all of those soon.  I really do love taking pictures, and I even love editing them (even though my time spent on them can be frustrating because I am still learning).  But here it is if any one is interested.
My official Julie Sacks Photography blog:

Gravitational Pull

For some reason, every time I see a garage sale sign (which it ironically quiet often in my neighborhood), I always feel a strong gravitational pull towards it.  The question will constantly pop up in my mind, what am I missing if I don't just go take a look.  Most the time I just drive by them just so I can satisfy my curiosity.  I never buy clothes cause there is just something about that that does not sit well with me, but furniture and decor is what reels me in.  So a few weeks ago, there was one just down the alley way and I decided to go take a quick look.  I have been wanting a side table in my living room for a long time and when I came up to this:

I knew it would be perfect!  It's solid and heavy and the drawers are nice and deep.  The owner noticed me looking at it and said he would give it away for $1.  SOLD!!!  I then wheeled it home and started to work on it.  There is just something about redoing things like this that just makes me so happy.  It's almost like therapy to me.  Here is the end product.  I LOVE IT!!!!

I think I found my resolution....

So as this crap year comes to an end, (and just trust me, this has been a crap year, it's been one of those years when I will go to church that last Sunday of 2012 and sing that horrid song about the year dying, I'm going to be standing up and screaming.... "Die Year Die!"), I have decided on my new years resolutions.

FIRST: A couple of weeks ago, I was in a store with my wonderful husband and one of the workers came up to me and said, "That shirt looks really great on you!".  It was a pretty cute guy and my gay-dar was not going off either!  I felt his compliment was genuine and just down right nice. It made my night (well, and the fact that I was out on a date with my own hottie was icing on the cake:)  So it got me thinking, I should compliment people more.  And not just friends or family but random compliments to people.  I'm always out and about running errands through out the day, so my FIRST resolution is to compliment someone at least once a day, that is if I leave the house that day :)  I see nothing wrong with this one, I can only see it as something that will make me and others happy... this one makes me excited.  The next one does not.

SECOND:  So as I was looking at some old posts on my blog, I noticed something.  Here are my posting stats:
2008: 112 posts
2009: 74 posts
2010: 63 posts
2011: 44 posts
And for this year, I am on track to having about 25 posts.  The numbers are embarrassing.   I really have given up all hope on my own scrap booking and have replaced it with the blog.  But my blogging skills have been less than impressive.  So, resolution number 2.... BLOG MORE!!  My goal is to blog once a week.  This one I can see going in the pooper.....buuuuut, I figure I would vocalize it so you all can call me out on it when I have not been good!

And now here is what any one ever cares about. Pictures:

I was put in as Soccer Mom this year and was in charge of the end of season game.  We met at a park and had pizza, treats, and coach handed out trophies. We really do love Cohen's soccer coach.  He is so good with the kids and Cohen adores him. It was crazy windy that day and blew over half of my cupcakes I had made all over the ground.  But none the less, the kids had a blast!

 Cohen's soccer team.
Carter loved holding Cohen's trophie and would not let go of it the whole time!
Don't you just love the dirt mustache on Jace?

Can you tell it was super windy?  This other little kid, Aiden, is in our ward.

This Week Sucks.

This week has been horrid!  Let me count the ways:
Monday: Justin went in for a second surgery because his stitches opened up too early and there was a big hole in his mouth.  Well, when they went in there, they saw that the bone graft he got a month earlier, did not work.... AGAIN!!!!  So they did another one.  I think this is his 5th bone graft, we have lost count.
Tuesday:  Well, we all know what happened on Tuesday, but the other thing that happened... the phone I was borrowing from my sister because mine dropped in the pooper, was stolen.  That's right, a brand new iphone that I was borrowing!
Wednesday:  I totally missed my Relief Society meeting that I had a pretty big part in.  We don't meet very often so I was so mad that I missed it because I had a TON of things to go over.  (I think the reminder for it was in the phone that was stolen).
Thursday:  This day does not even exist to me any more.
Friday:  I'm just waiting.  I'll probably get a ticket today.  I'm just going to count on it.
I'm ready for this week to be over.
The only thing keeping me sane:

I know I post a lot of this look, but it has to make you smile, right?!

Love these!

Here are a few things I wanted to save on my blog that I enjoyed coming out of this disappointing election:

So if you have been fearful of our future, look to His prophets and those who have gone on before, they are inspired and I have faith we will all be ok.

A Gross Story

The other day I climbed into bed and started reading.  Justin was by my side studying (because I don't think that he will ever not feel like he does not need to study) and all the sudden, I hear something.  I could not put my finger on it but it was some kind of scratching noise.  I kept asking Justin if he could hear that and he said no.  After about 5 minutes of it, I put my book down and started searching.  I put my ear closer to where the sound was coming from.  As I got closer, I saw it.  Two.  Long.  Cockroach antennas.  Wiggling out of my lamp outlet.  He was trying to escape.  I screamed.  Justin came and looked and we both agreed, those things are probably the grossest things on this planet.  Justin ended up taking off the face plate to the out let and it quickly made it's escape just in time for Justin to stomp on it with his shoe.  I heard the crunch of it as I was in my bathroom, a safe distance away from it.  The only cockroaches I have seen in our house have just been 2 in our garage.  Nothing too bad, but now I am starting to wonder how many more are living in our walls.  We just try not to think about it because it's going to get cold soon and that should get ride of them....till next year anyway.  So gross.

Scaredy Baby

So if you did not know already, I find it funny to scare my children.  I know, that sounds horrible right?!  But the reaction they give is just hilarious.  While waiting on a prescription the other day, I was strolling the isle of Halloween things and got this video of Carter.  Cohen is over the whole being scared of Halloween things, Jace is getting there, but it still terrifies Carter.  I put on my witch costume the other day, and he cried and would not come to me for a while.  I just figure it's pay back for all the times they wake me up at night and scare me.  Like the time I got woken up to a little boy trying to find the ipad at 2am to play, or the time Jace brought me a booger at 4 am.  Thanks Jace.
And please disregard Carters creepy eyes, I am not impressed with the iphone camera abilities.  It was catching all the orange on the walls and casted a nasty shadow under his eyes.

Dentally retarded.

I have some bad news.  Justin is dentally retarded.  Like I'm not even joking a little.  This kids had braces for 7 years people.  He was born with out 2 of his teeth and before he went on his mission, like literally, the day before he went, he got implants.  He has been through 7 surgery's now (4 of those being bone grafts) and once again, he is going through it again.  He has had problems with them for a while now but we knew it was going to be expensive to fix since hardly any insurance covers it.  His first time around cost about 10K.  Well, here we are.... 12 years later... and we find out, he needs new implants, another bone graft, and it's going to run us about 12K now.  Ahhhhhh!!! I swear, when it rains, it freaking pours.  The last year and a half has been crazy hard financially, and dentally.  I had to have a root canal, 2 crowns and one cavity.  Cohen had to have 4 cavities, 2 root treatments, and 2 crowns, and now this.  Are you kidding me!  People, I don't know if you understand this, but we don't have that kind of moneys.  And then to add onto that, we had to fix our foundation (far from being a cheap fix), our van had some fixing up to be had and our air conditioner just went out.  PLUS, Justin has been getting his medical licence and that's another 4 grand to get.  Needless to say, we are waiting for some air, because we are drowning.

Wow, that was off the subject.  So, back to Justin being dentally retarded.  After many visits with different oral surgeons, we came across one that was an MD and a DDS that we liked.  Justin had his first appointment a few months ago and since he felt for us (knowing how much residents make) he told Justin he was going to give us "a little discount".  At least that's what he told us. But when Justin went to the financial lady to get the skinny on how much this would run us, he found out that the glorious Dr gave us a 50% discount.  Ladies and gentlemen, can I get a HALLELUJAH!!!!  That's right people, he knocked off $6000 off the price of this whole thing. I cried.  In the end, we decided to just get one of the two implants taken care of because it's still too much money to do both right now.  So, about 3 weeks ago, I took Justin in to get his implant out and a bone graft done. In 6 months he will go back in to get the post and then we will go in a 3rd time for the tooth to be attached.  I was secretly hoping he would be totally crazy after the surgery and say some fun things, but he was not as loopy as I had hoped.  But I did get some good things:

He is finally healing up and feeling a little better.  I keep telling him to look on the bright side, he has a great hill billy costume, just pop out his tooth on his retainer, put on a mullet wig and hand out some ketchup packets for Halloween!

He literally slept all day.  From about 9am to 5pm.
I think Carter knew something was up because he just laid with Justin here for like 30 min.
